Description:
St.Joseph’s college embarked on an exciting trip to Shillong, Meghalaya, to participate in the prestigious School Fest, The Edmundian Fest 2024 organized by a fellow Christian Brothers Institution St. Edmund’s School in Shillong. The journey began on 19th August and ended on 24th August,2024. A total of 6 students and 2 teachers joined the trip. Upon arrival the students along with the accompanying teachers Mr.Amar Chand Boral and Ms. Sayantani Podder were accommodated in the school campus. The entire campus with its massive football fields, swimming pool, courtyard and the verdant greenery all around was incredible. The fest began with a bang on the 22nd with the opening ceremony featuring dances from across the Seven Sisters of Northeast India. Following that and opening addresses by Brother Solomon Morris, Principal and Senior School Coordinator Mr. Sehdave, the events kicked off. Students participated in the Creative Writing, Origami, Cartooning and Quiz Eliminations. During the day, Ipshito K. Ghosh and Sidharth Som , the students of class 11 qualified to quiz finals and won the quiz ultimately with a lead of over one hundred points. The second day of the fest also started accordingly with Extempore in the morning alongside Painting. The school also participated in Debate in the afternoon. Rwishya Pyne , student of class 11 secured the first position in painting competition.On the third and final day of the fest, students participated in the Oriental Singing(Solo) and Western Singing(Solo and Duet) events. On 23rd August the school contingent boarded the Kanchanjunga Express from Guwahati railway station and reached back to Kolkata the following day at 7:50 in the evening. The trip and the fest remained as everlasting memories as St. Joseph’s College definitely left an indelible mark on the Edmundian Fest. The trip was a resounding success, with students learning valuable lessons in teamwork, discipline, and cultural exchange.
